Job - Sourcing Manager Homeware Appliances

Description

Small Appliances (Kettels, stoves, microwaves, irons, toasters) anything with a plug

 Purpose:

To ensure the provision of world-class sourcing of merchandise through local and international sourcing hubs, volume bundling and negotiation to acquire merchandise at the Optimal Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) without compromising on quality. To maintain the supplier base in order to acquire merchandise that will enhanced profitability and ensure sourcing excellence both local and abroad.

 

Roles and Responsibilities:

Leveraging Technology

1. Understand the technology around garment processing and garment technology and ensure suppliers comply with technological requirements to ensure garment re-engineering for lowest cost.

2. Constantly monitor production technology of suppliers to ensure garments are produced according to guidelines and processes and to lowest cost alternatives

3. Monitor and maintain systems to ensure productivity, production and process efficiency.

 

Customer / Stakeholder Relationship Management

1. Understand core needs of the merchandise fraternity by partnering with them.

2. Understand resources required in order to complete sourcing projects or initiatives within specific timelines.

3. Appropriately shifts resources in response to changes in sourcing project delivery.

4. Partners with merchandise fraternity on an operational delivery platform.

5. Ensure understanding of needs from the merchandise area in order to delivery seamless service through sourcing excellence

 

Process Improvement and Efficiency

1. Familiarise oneself with and utilise standard analytical and execution processes.

2. Participate in projects to develop and implement systems for measuring service levels in business area.

3. Utilise technology effectively in order to ensure effective production, garment technology and supplier relationships.

 4. Implement a process to monitor work in progress, allowing sufficient lead time between procuring of merchandise and delivery and initiating appropriate actions when out of line situations occur, ensuring deliveries are effected within stipulated deadlines

 

People Management

1. Encourage, implement and reinforce the Group’s Values, Leadership principles and Employer of Choice (EOC) strategies and initiatives

2. Ensure an open, motivated and harmonious work environment in line with Company Leadership philosophy

3. Manage the performance of self and all direct reports (formally and informally), ensuring regular feedback is given/received, coaching and mentoring on performance is given/received to enable continuous improvement

4. Be actively involved in own Individual Development Plan (IDP), develop such plans for all direct reports and ensure that the agreed development interventions are delivered

5. Ensure that talent reviews are conducted on all staff to identify the appropriate talent management strategy and drive implementation

 

Supplier Relationship Management and Networking

1. Analyse and evaluate information when sourcing and negotiating with suppliers to establish and verify the reliability of suppliers for quality and price prior to buying.

Record and store data for research findings and comparative analysis for future buying decisions

2. Evaluate supplier rankings and performance so that appropriate actions/decisions are taken on whether to utilise suppliers for the next buying season

3. Implement a process to communicate effectively when negotiating with suppliers so that all elements relating to quality, quantity, styling and delivery requirements are clearly understood and carried out in accordance with business requirements

4. Negotiate new contracts, project outputs and service agreements in accordance with the changing needs of the business.

Monitor stakeholder performance on an ongoing basis and re-negotiate deliverables where required

5. Identify key core products and seasonal items and negotiate volumes, price and lead times, verifying supplier commitment and ability to meet volume requirements

 

Business Relationship Management And Networking

1. Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders to ensure solid supplier base.

2. Cultivate an active network of relationships and partnerships internally and externally to the sourcing infrastructure.

3. Maintain and build on supplier base by building rapport.

4. Participates in sourcing industry, social and professional events.

Acedemic Qualifications:

Experience: 3/8 Years

Tertiary qualification will be advantageous.

The retail organisation's core area middle/senior management.

Implementing policy changes and providing analysis & interpretation of relevant financial performance criteria & making recommendation submission. Profit responsible within defined area.

 

Formal / Practical Training Must

Must have a Fashion Diploma/Degree

Remuneration

Will also consider non SA Nationals

Salary between R48-R50k negotiable based on experience
